Dr Ali Ahmed Shuaib was my first contact after a very complex longterm condition has started in Nov 2017. I myself had no idea what any doctor could possibly do or say to make the difficult situation bearable (esp the unmanageable pain) however he always knew exactly what to say/do to keep me going and focusing on what matters. Having always been healthy / functioning, this health crisis was a shock and he navigated us through this experience calmly and very effectively when we already lost the overview of all the specialists or treatments or priorities and sometimes were overwhealmed and helpless. The treatment was very unique and complex across countries and across over 10 different specialists with uncommon medications and treatments and he always knew about everything (no matter how niche) and remembered the history and also where to go/do from there. Often we realized we would not have known what to do or focused on the unhelpful detail if we hadnt seen Dr Ali Ahmed Shuaib. His very broad knowledge (no matter how niche or unique) and his extraordinary emotional intelligence and wholesomeness / kindness with patients is unstoppable - often when we lost patience or hope he would find a solution to whatever the issue was. If I was too unwell or in inpatient hospital treatment Dr Ali Ahmed Shuaib was always available via telephone for questions or updates- he truly accompanied me throughout the past year in and out of rehabilitation or hospital treatments. Although it is known that NHS doctors do not have alot of time for patients we never felt rushed and he always took enough time for us to understand and know what to do next. He always took our concerns (even if "irrellevant" like "it drives me crazy not to go to work" or so) seriously and listened and always had a solution and always took us seriously. We trusted him enough to share ie if i forgot or refused a medication (ie because of side effects) or that we were interested in medical cannabis offered from the German hospital which is obviously crucial for a doctor to know and be aware of in order to avoid ie complications but not a given as it was acting against some social / doctors / pharmacy opinions. Instead of just telling us off blindly he would discuss and find a solution that worked for the multidisciplinary doctor team AND us and within UK guidelines. He also kindly involved my husband which meant the world to us because he understood this health crisis was a change / journey for him and us as a married couple also. At other specialist offices my husband was sometimes told the office room was too small for a plus one or that i was an adult so I shall speak for myself- when all my husband did was support while I was weak. He touched and improved our lives forever and we are forever grateful. We hope this crisis will be over by 1 July 2019 once radiation stops however Dr Ali Ahmed Shuaib will always be our trusted and first go-to contact shall any of this happen again. My attitude towards my health has changed permanently to the positive due to his way of managing this health crisis. While probably anyone who passes med school exams deserves to be a doctor- Dr Ali Shuaib was made for this (like a calling) as his interaction with the patient is healing the patients' situation holistically. Some rehabilitation centres were so in awe with the suitable soundbites of Dr Ali Shuaib that they have asked if he wanted to speak and hold a presentation.

I have been examined twice for different things by Dr Ali at the Barkantine and i am very pleased by his services. I was impressed by his skills even from the first time i met him when i went to my GP appointment complaining for a pain on my lower back after a trip i had. After a thorough check he did and taking my medical history he explained to me what was the reason of that pain on what i need to do to recover quickly. I followed his advice and after a week i was very well. He is a very good doctor and his attitude is great and the way he explains the medical issues makes the patient to feel comfortable and welcomed by NHS. Dr Ali thank you.
